Q Why does my optical mouse not work on certain surfaces?
A Optical mice need to be used on a surface that has some contrast, such as a mouse pad or wood surface. The optical mouse needs this to be able to tell when it has been moved. Optical mice generally do not work on plastic or glossy surfaces with solid colors (specifically a white surface).
